Stan Howe has been entertaining audiences across the west for 50 years. He is a songwriter, a singer, a fiddle player, a storyteller and and author.
He was the first Western Music Association "Songwriter of the Year" and won the American Songwriter Magazine's Lyric Contest for his songs, Ridin' For the Family Brand and Take Me Back Along the Yellowstone.
Raised on a ranch in Eastern Montana, Stan now makes his living in Helena, Montana where he has been in the auction business for the past 26 years. His music and storytelling has taken him to festivals and gatherings in nearly every state west of the Mississippi and to nearly every little town and potluck dinner in Montana. He has appeared at such prestigious gatherings as the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada and has been on the night show at the Cowboy Songs and Range Ballads Gathering in Cody, Wyoming 9 times, most recently in 2008. He performs as a solo act, often with renowned fiddler Kelly Wells as a duet and with several different bands as a lead singer, front man and fiddle and guitar player in Honky Tonk and Western Swing bands.
He continues to be involved with ranching and cattle, having purchased his family's ranch at Westmore, Montana from the other heirs in 2004. He also has ranching interests at Helena, Montana.
